The NWO-NWA call (Dutch Research Council) for Research on Routes by Consortia (ORC) is now open. This annual funding instrument of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA) finances research projects by knowledge-chain-wide, inter- and transdisciplinary consortia in which, in addition to social partners, citizens may also be represented.
Call theme
This theme focuses on addressing the persistently high rates of maternal, newborn, and child mortality and morbidity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Despite improvements and evidence of promising interventions, many challenges remain, including poor quality of care, limited resources, and infrastructure challenges. These issues, alongside the unequal distribution of healthcare workers and facilities, affect access to essential Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) service provision, particularly during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
This theme aims to enable the implementation of equitable, (proven) effective and sustainable MNCH healthcare interventions
through a co-creative process that engages communities and partners from the Netherlands and LMICs. This theme seeks to generate context-specific, scalable, socially just healthcare approaches that can improve maternal and child health across the health system, ultimately contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals 3.1 (reduction of maternal mortality) and 3.2 (ending all preventable deaths under five years of age).
For this new programme 11 PhD positions are foreseen. As new information becomes available, we will share it via our channels. Be sure to follow the Linkedin Group (at the footer of this page).
